Course Description
This course will introduce students to canonical dramatists, poets and novelists of the seventeenth and eighteenth century to provide a strong foundation for subsequent studies in English literature.

課程目標 |
Course Objectives
The course will provide an understanding of some of the most influential writers of the age within their historical contexts. It will furnish students with a clear sense of the development of genre from the early seventeenth through to the late eighteenth century and equip them with a knowledge of the key political and religious issues of the period.

Requirements:
Students must read all texts before class and circulate starting points for discussion through e-mail each week.
Full attendance, class contribution and submission of work on time is expected.
